Saving our wild isles
with David attenborough
Lundy Island lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America, made of granite and Slate and three miles long and half a mile wide. In the noise of the modern world, it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoiled and little bit of paradise right on our doorstep.
Additionally, the waters around Lundy Island offer great visibility and diverse marine life, making it a popular diving and snorkelling destination.
Lundy Island is home to over 200 Atlantic grey seals, the southwests largest seabird colony, historic monuments and much more. In order to ensure Lundy is here for the future the Island is protected under a marine conservation act. Lundy is a Marine protected area which includes a ‘no take zone’ of 4 square kilometres, the no take zone is used to protect marine wildlife and heritage and to safeguard or improve local fish stocks for the future generations to come leaving the marine habitats to thrive.
